Kuehne+Nagel expands technology footprint with new Chennai Tech Centre

Kuehne+Nagel has inaugurated a new Tech Center in Chennai, India, strengthening its global engineering capabilities and expanding its capacity to develop proprietary digital logistics solutions. The center is expected to employ around 250 technology specialists by early 2027, who will contribute to the development of global digital products, including SALOG, Kuehne+Nagel’s core platform for managing sea and air freight shipments.

The investment comes as digitalization and artificial intelligence increasingly shape logistics operations. Growing customer demand for greater shipment visibility, faster processes and more resilient supply chains is driving the need for scalable digital solutions. Kuehne+Nagel sees access to highly skilled engineering talent as an important element of its technology strategy and has therefore selected Chennai as an additional location within its global technology network.

India’s established position as a hub for engineering and digital expertise was a key factor behind the decision. Chennai also offers an established business ecosystem and experience in supporting international operations. To accelerate the build-up of the new center and its workforce, Kuehne+Nagel is working with Accenture. The new facility complements the logistics group’s existing technology locations worldwide and is intended to support the further development and global scaling of its digital platforms.

Marcus Claesson, Chief Information Officer at Kuehne+Nagel, said: “Technology and digital capabilities have become a key differentiator in logistics. Developing our core platforms in-house allows us to innovate faster, scale globally, and continuously improve the customer experience. The new Chennai Tech Centre strengthens our engineering capabilities and supports the next generation of digital logistics solutions.”
