Davies Turner acquires landmark logistics facility near LHR

UK-based, independent freight forwarder, Davies Turner has planted its flag at Heathrow with the acquisition of a newly built logistics facility near the London airport. The move is a bold commitment to the future of its air freight business and does down as one of the largest property investments in the company’s recent history. The 130,000 ft² [c. 12,077 m²] site will serve as the new headquarters of Davies Turner Air Cargo. Located less than 2 miles/3.2 km from Heathrow’s cargo terminal and just 500 yards [457 m] from Junction 14 of the M25, it offers direct access to the UK’s busiest air freight gateway and its wider transport network.

The building is designed for scale and performance and includes:

  • Around 70,000 ft² [6,503 m²] of high-specification warehousing with 12.5-metre clear internal height
  • Two mezzanine floors adding 50,000 ft² [4,645 m²] of operational space
  • Five dock-level and two level-access loading doors
  • 10,000 ft² [929 m²] of Grade A office space

Sustainability is also built in, with a BREEAM Excellent certification and an EPC A+ rating.

The acquisition is in line with Davies Turner’s long-term strategy of investing in critical infrastructure to boost capacity, efficiency and customer growth, while giving employees and customers a modern, future-ready base. The facility is currently being equipped and prepared for operation, with an official opening planned in the next couple of months.

James Wheatley, Managing Director of Davies Turner Air Cargo, revealed: “This acquisition represents a major milestone for Davies Turner Air Cargo and demonstrates our long-term commitment to the UK air freight market. Heathrow remains the country’s premier international cargo gateway and this strategically located facility provides an exceptional platform from which to support our customers’ future growth. The investment gives us the capacity, infrastructure and operational flexibility required to continue developing our services for many years to come.”
