WestJet Cargo has launched a national campaign to raise awareness about the life-saving importance of blood donations, deepening its collaboration with Canadian Blood Services (CBS). In the past five years, WestJet Cargo has transported critical blood and plasma products to hospitals and patients in need, leveraging its extensive network and Priority service to reach 65% of Canadians within four hours.
As part of the initiative, WestJet Cargo employees participated in a blood donation drive on 19NOV24, with staff from Calgary and other provinces contributing at CBS locations nationwide. This effort supports CBS’s annual goal of 300,000 donations facilitated by Partners for Life groups, emphasizing WestJet Cargo’s commitment to health and community well-being.
WestJet Cargo’s Priority service ensures reliable, expedited handling for time-sensitive medical shipments, meeting the strict demands of healthcare providers. This service plays a crucial role in the safe and timely delivery of essential medical supplies, such as blood and plasma, across Canada.
Through its partnership with CBS, WestJet Cargo not only supports health care but also aligns with the WestJet Group’s broader charitable mission, demonstrating a commitment to enriching the communities it serves and addressing critical needs in health and safety. Kirsten De Bruijn, Executive Vice President at WestJet Cargo, underlined: “WestJet Cargo is dedicated to serving the Canadian community by delivering life-critical shipments and promoting initiatives that save lives. Our recent customer survey reaffirmed the importance of our community-focused values, and this relationship reflects our commitment to making a tangible difference. By working together with Canadian Blood Services, we are not only addressing pressing health needs but also inspiring Canadians to join this vital cause.”
