The first day of this new month also saw the first Oman Air flight from Oman’s Muscat (MCT) land in the Netherlands. And Swissport’s 20,000 m² warehouse in Terminal 11 at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport (AMS) welcomed a new customer, since the ground services provider has been chosen by Oman Air Cargo to handle its freight shipments. As the facility is CEIV-certified, freight forwarders should be able to look forward to a flexible product portfolio once services are fully established. Oman Air operates a Boeing 787-9 flight on the route, thus offering a cargo capacity of 14 to 18 metric tons each way. It is scheduled to fly four times a week to begin with. The initial MCT-AMS flight on 01JUL25, carried a load of pharmaceuticals, engineering spares, and courier and express cargo. The press release emphasizes that this new route linking Oman with the Netherlands, is one part of a strategic European route expansion that the Omani carrier is pursuing.
Claudius Pereira, Senior Manager – Cargo Commercial Operations, Oman Air, revealed: “Europe is an important market for us in terms of revenue and as a key hub in the region. Amsterdam is an ideal addition to our expanding network. Swissport’s commitment to delivering high-quality services makes them a natural partner for us at Schiphol and we are looking forward to working with Swissport to deliver an exceptional service for our clients.” Jeroen J. Giling, Head of Cargo, the Netherlands, Swissport, stated: “We are looking forward to the future whereby our teams will work together to make this new cargo operation between Muscat and Amsterdam an absolute success.”
