CB Customs Broker secures customs for LCAG’s PER

Every second counts when it comes to transporting perishables (PER) – that’s why they often fly air cargo, and particularly why they require quick clearance – something that is not always a given when it comes to customs. However, Lufthansa Cargo (LCAG) can rest assured – it has placed the responsibility for smooth customs processes in the hands of CB Customs Broker, which has been handling all of the carrier’s customs clearance processes since the start of last month. And it does this in three airports: Frankfurt (the home of Europe’s biggest perishables center), Munich, and Brussels, for all shipments traveling as Lufthansa Cargo’s “Perishables toDoor” service. “The Perishable toDoor service ensures fast and reliable delivery of temperature-sensitive goods from around the world. Whether it’s mangoes from Mexico, roses from Kenya or papayas from Brazil, shipments arrive by air and continue by road to destinations across Europe,” says the press release. CB Customs Broker’s responsibilities cover customs clearance for all goods staying in Germany, arranging T1 documents for transit shipments, and ensuring that all relevant documentation is available and correct. The customs broker acts on Lufthansa Cargo’s behalf when it comes to dealing with respective authorities such as the Plant Protection Service, the Federal Office for Agriculture, and the Veterinary Office.

Uwe Glunz, Managing Director at CB Customs Broker, explained: “Hardly any other products require the kind of precision that is required for the customs clearance of perishable goods. That precision is exactly our strength. We’re pleased to support Lufthansa Cargo and to offer this service to other customers as well, further strengthening our role in time-sensitive customs services across Europe.”
